What Soveau is for
Helping professionals prepare sensitive documents for sharing.
Client files carry names, account numbers, addresses, and identifiers that don’t belong in every email or shared folder. Soveau is being built as a local-first application to help you find that information, decide what should be removed or replaced, and produce a new Safe Copy you can share.
It’s designed as a careful workflow with a person in charge, not a one-click button and not just a way to cover text on a page.

Every change is made to a new file. Your source document isn’t overwritten.
Categories, not one search term
Privacy Profiles are based on kinds of sensitive information, such as names, contact details, and financial identifiers, rather than a single repeated name or number.
A person decides
Soveau surfaces what it finds. You review and approve before anything is redacted or replaced.

From sensitive file to Safe Copy
Soveau is designed around a single workflow. Removing text from a page is only part of it. The steps before and after matter just as much.

Soveau looks for sensitive information by category, then puts what it found in front of you. Uncertain results are meant to be flagged for a human decision, not quietly cleared. Nothing changes until you approve it.
Human review is a core step, not an afterthought.
Protect and sanitize

Approved items are redacted, or replaced with consistent stand-ins (pseudonymized). Sanitizing goes further than the visible page, looking at places information can linger, such as hidden text, metadata, and annotations.
The goal is removal from the file, not a black box drawn on top.
Verify and export

Soveau then re-opens the newly written Safe Copy and checks it separately from the step that created it. If a check fails or can’t be completed, the copy is meant to be flagged rather than passed along as safe.
Your original is never modified. The Safe Copy is a new file.

Professional document work rarely involves a single tidy file. Soveau is being designed for the shapes that work actually takes.
One client across many files
Prepare a whole client folder together, such as correspondence, contracts, records, and supporting documents, and review what was found across the set instead of file by file.
Many clients with separate files
Work through documents belonging to different clients in one sitting, with each client’s files kept separate and each Safe Copy produced on its own.
Mixed documents and entities
Digital PDFs, scans, and photographed pages side by side, with different people, companies, and account numbers among them. One category-based profile applies to all of it.
Privacy Profiles work by category (for example personal identifiers, contact details, and account numbers), so the same profile can cover a whole batch without searching for one term at a time.
Local-first privacy

Soveau is being built as an installed application rather than a website you send documents to. The intended boundary is straightforward to state:

Any product telemetry is intended to be minimal, and to exclude document content, extracted text, and file names.

A Safe Copy is a new, separate file. Your source document stays as it was.
Online services, kept separate
Later, online services may handle things like accounts, licensing, and updates. They are intended to stay separate from document processing, and not to become a route for your documents.
What we’re not claiming yet
This is the design direction, not a certification or a completed audit. We won’t describe Soveau as fully local or offline until the finished product has been verified against that claim. When we can stand behind them, we’ll publish the specifics: what runs where, and what, if anything, leaves your device.
